Pack My Bags

TSA Packing Guidelines

3-1-1 for Carry-Ons

3-ounce bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz. container size is a security measure.

Consolidate bottles into one bag and x-ray separately to speed screening. Be prepared. Each time the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) searches a carry-on, it slows down the line. Practicing 3-1-1 will ensure a faster and easier checkpoint experience.

Declare Larger Liquids

Prescription medications, baby formula and milk are allowed in quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint. The name on the bottle must be the same as the person traveling.

Come Early and Be Patient

Heavy travel volumes and the enhanced security process may mean longer lines at security checkpoints. Delta strongly suggests the following arrival times:

Domestic Flights

Arrive at least 90 minutes before departure time.

International Flights

Arrive at least 2 1/2 hours before departure time.

Flights for Unaccompanied Minors

Arrive at least 2 1/2 hours before departure time.

Baggage Fees

As of April 8, 2026, the fee for your first checked bag is $45.00 for most domestic flights.*

*If you booked your flight before April 8, 2026, the 1st checked bag fee remains $35.00 for most domestic flights. International flights, additional baggage, and other circumstances not listed may vary in price. Please contact an airline representative to confirm all fees relating to baggage.

Bags that are larger than 62 linear inches will not be allowed in-cabin and are subject to be denied on the aircraft. If you are unsure whether or not your bag is too large, please arrive at least 90 minutes prior to departure time so you can double check at the baggage counter.
