Airport Safety
The Southwest Georgia Regional Airport Public Safety Office is unique because we are a dual-role agency: the Police and Fire Departments for the Airport, specializing in ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting).
The department is made up of 10 dedicated personnel (1 Chief and nine officers). The Chief oversees the administrative functions, and the officers are divided into three shifts of 3, with a supervisor over each shift for day-to-day functions. The department is manned 24/7 and rotates on a 48/96 shift rotation.
Regarding Law Enforcement, all officers are State-Certified Police Officers and are responsible for the overall safety and security of the Airport property, the tenants, and the public that utilizes Southwest Georgia Regional Airport daily.
Regarding Firefighting, all officers are state-certified Firefighters AND State/FAA-certified ARFF firefighters. They are responsible for responding to any fire, medical, or rescue call on airport property, specializing in Aircraft emergencies.
