Albany Transportation Center Design Presented to the Board of Commissioners
Albany, GA – The Board of Commissioners were presented with an update on the Albany Transportation Center Design by the consultant Niles Bolton & Associates.
Community meetings were held in January and May to review the project and collect community input. The consultant shared the results from these stakeholder meetings held earlier in the year on the design of the new Transportation Center. The meetings had 28 community participants providing 90 comments. The community’s input was incorporated into the design.
“We are excited to see this project gain momentum to include outstanding public input. The Transportation Center could potentially be the catalyst for economic growth in the Harlem District,” shared David Hamilton, Director of Transportation.
In 2016, the City was awarded $ 241,870.00 Go Transit Funds by the State Road and Tollway Authority which is 100% reimbursable and covers 20% of the overall project cost. The other funding source is the Section 5309 Federal Grant covering 80% in the amount of $967,480.00. The total project cost is $ 1,209,350.
