Georgia Bureau of Investigation Will Open an Office in the City
Albany, GA (September 10, 2019) – The Mayor and City Commissioners authorized the City Manager to execute a lease agreement between the City of Albany, Dougherty County, and JFT Public Properties, LP for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to rent office space in the City of Albany.
The GBI made a request for office space in the City for a detachment of agents. A site adjacent to the County Jail owned by JFT meets the GBI's requirements. An agreement between JFT, Dougherty County and the City of Albany has been drafted to organize the arrangement to supply office space for the GBI agents.
Michael Persley, Chief of Police, stated, “The opening of the GBI Regional Drug Enforcement Office will be a tremendous asset not only to Albany/Dougherty County but also to SW Georgia. We have enhanced our partnership with the GBI in order to combat drug trafficking and criminal gang activity that plagues our community.”
