Special Recognition of the Albany Police Department Employees

Albany, GA (February 26, 2019)- The Albany Police Department (APD) recognized individual Officers and Civilians who add value to the department and community.

The Officer of the Year award is given to a sworn member of the Albany Police Department who exhibits qualities and attributes along with work ethic and dedication to the duties of serving and protecting our community.

2018 Officer of the Year: Sgt. Gregory Gadt

Civilian of the Year award is given to a non-sworn member of the Albany Police Department who exhibits qualities and attributes along with work ethic and dedication to the duties of supporting the operations of the police department.

2018 Civilian of the Year: Ms. Sonya Johnson

Commander in Chief award is given to a sworn member of the Albany Police Department who exhibits qualities and attributes that supports the role of being recognized a valued member of the department.

2018 Commander in Chief: Sgt. Tangela Henry

Citizen of the Year award is given to a member of the community whose efforts go toward exhibiting positive acts that embody the meaning of the “Good Life City.”

2018 Citizen of the Year: Corporal Dromoski Franklin

Chief Michael Persley, APD, stated, “These men and women have displayed the actions which most support our mission, vision and core values of our department. These awards are a way of showing our gratitude for what they do every day in our city. All of these recipients make my job as Chief easier.”
