Albany, GA (February 12, 2019) – The Board of City Commissioners accepted the recommendation of the Utility Board to contract with Trees Unlimited of Cave Springs, GA for the right of way clearing & maintenance of power lines for an estimated expenditure of $750,000.00.
This contract will be from a cooperative purchasing contract #19-025 ROW, through the Electric Cities of Georgia (ECG). Albany Utilities has contracted for this service since 2016. The contract is for one (1) year with renewal options for two (2) additional one (1) year terms.
Jimmy Norman, Director of Utility Operations, stated, “We have over 700 miles of overhead lines which feed 52 circuits, so it is important that we continue to trim the trees around power lines to prevent major power outages when we have thunderstorms and major storms. This is needed to make sure we keep the lights on.”
