Public Hearing Notice
Pursuant to the Georgia Brownfield Act under Section 12-8-200, Official Code of Georgia Annotated (OGCA),A public meeting will be held at approximately 5:00 p.m. on May 28th, 2019 at the City of Albany’s Government Center Room 100 located at 222 Pine Avenue, Albany, Georgia. Persons with an interest may call the City of Albany’s Planning and Development Services Office at 229.438.3900 for directions.
The purpose of the hearing is to update the public on the City’s Brownfields Program and to take public comment and provide an opportunity for public input on the objectives for rehabilitation, job opportunities and economic developments anticipated, residents’ considerations, and other relevant local concerns. Brownfields are properties where the presence or potential presence of environmental contamination hinders redevelopment or reuse.
The City of Albany recently was awarded a $ 300,000 EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant to identify and access properties where the presence of real or perceived environmental contamination is a roadblock to development.
